The Douglas DC-6 was a natural evolution of the DC-4 with improved performance, increased accommodation, greater payload and a pressurized cabin. The more powerful engines help it fly significantly faster than the DC-4, and enable the aircraft to carry 3,000 pounds more payload over longer distances.
Douglas DC-6B, registered V5-NCG and named "Bateleur" was the last DC-6B ever to be built and is the only one of its type still in passenger configuration in the world. She often accompanies the Classic Airliners of Skyclass Aviation, the DC-3 and DC-4s, carrying up to 60 tourists to Africa’s exotic holiday destinations in business class comfort.
